"Truly, "thoughts are things," and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects."
- Napoleon HillDaniel Blake Nix is the co-founder and CEO of QuickTours Real Estate Marketing, which provides software and services that help brand and market real estate agents and real estate brokers. QuickTours, the first of its kind, provides automated property highlight videos and cinemagraphs using advanced motion graphic programming.
Born on September 14th, 1990, Daniel was raised by a single mother in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By the time he reached high school, he’d lived in eight homes and been enrolled in six school districts. Due to his disinterest in public education, Daniel permanently withdrew himself from school toward the start of his sophomore year. His passion for personal growth and learning remained intact, but they’d no longer be informed by an archaic and rigorously structured traditionalism of the American public school system. He has since subscribed to a more practical and on-demand approach to education, one he believes fuels passion while inspiring commitment to learn applicably. Fittingly, Daniel claims to hold, “a Masters from Google University.”
In September of 2011, Daniel purchased The Disc Golf Shop, his first business by trade. The Disc Golf Shop was a means for Daniel to enjoy his favorite hobby while also paying the bills. The revelation that happiness and occupation could be intertwined—that one could make a living even by doing what they love—reshaped his life forever. This realization blew open Daniel’s mind, as well as a door to a bright future. Since then, Daniel has been an owner/co-owner of six different businesses including Thrive15.com (Online School), Ktisis Kreations (Media), Harper’s Hut (Mobile Treats), Spectra Sight Drones (Media & Drones), and QuickTours (Real Estate Marketing). How does he do it? Where does his inspiration come from? Against all odds, how has Daniel risen above the “wage cage” with a bright future still ahead of him? According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), median earnings for those with less than a high school degree works out to $25,636 per year, assuming a year of constant earning [U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics].
After dropping out of school, Daniel entered the workforce full-time, aimlessly bouncing from job to job. Without a clear vision of his future, he felt the weight of failure tied to the cultural perception of a high school dropout. Three years later, Daniel was admitted to an inpatient behavioral health treatment center for drug abuse, depression and severe panic attacks. Shortly after returning home from treatment, Daniel had his next great revelation, another that would change his life forever. “Something strange happened,” recalls Daniel. “The verse John 8:32 (‘The truth will set you free’) was running through my mind like an unstoppable force trying to get me to open a bible.” As an atheist, this new internal pull was especially odd.
That night, Daniel committed his life to God and became a member of the Christian faith. That was the true beginning of his life, he says today. “Christianity provides a source of truth and understanding like I have never seen before.” That turning point in Daniel’s life led to the spark of an idea that is now his purpose-driven goal of creating what he calls “The Dream Center”—a counseling center designed to help mentor and disciple young entrepreneurs. “I wrote down my plan [in 2013] to create this Dream Center,” says Daniel, speaking of his businessman-blueprint and newfound goal to learn the skills necessary to make his dreams a reality, “and I also wrote a deadline to break ground. In September of 2020 I will move a majority if not all of my focus to bringing the Dream Center to life.” Daniel’s passion for the creation of the Dream Center has fueled him to do things he otherwise would not have done. “Working 116 hours a week on projects, sacrificing time, working without pay, investing in business relationships—I never would have put myself through that if it wasn’t for my definitive purpose: the Dream Center,” says Daniel. Without his Christianity-fueled transformation and his calling to achieve a greater goal, Daniel would not be the man he is today. Daniel says, “Everyone should seek their why—their purpose—and expect success from what might seem to be impossible when you find it.”
Currently, Daniel lives in Huntington Beach, California and is focused on growing his technology company, learning new hobbies, and maintaining a healthy work/life balance. As CEO of QuickTours Real Estate Marketing, Daniel also leads product strategy, product management, and user experience. He spends most of his time analyzing user behavior, running growth experiments, and optimizing sales conversions. In his free time, Daniel enjoys surfing, beach volleyball, longboarding, bike rides, ultimate frisbee, photography, reading, and spending time with friends.
